Jerome Belle, 22, identified as victim in daylight Junction shooting

A 22-year-old man was killed in a daylight shooting in Toronto's Junction area Tuesday afternoon.

Toronto police say the shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. on Randolph Avenue, in the Bloor Street W. and Perth Avenue area. A number of people in the area reported hearing gunshots.

Responding officers found Jerome Belle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was unconscious but breathing. Belle was transported to a trauma centre, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police wouldn't say if Belle lived in the neighbourhood. The small street is also close to the West Toronto Railpath and the Bloor GO Transit station.

Investigators are trying to identify at least one suspect, who was described as having a white hooded sweatshirt pulled tightly over his face.

Anyone with potentially useful information or video of the shooting is asked to contact police.

The death marks Toronto's 15th homicide of the year.
