Man and woman dead after collision on Highway 2 near Okotoks

A man and a woman are dead after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2 near the Okotoks turnoff on Friday.

According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, the crash happened at about 8:50 a.m., when a northbound van lost control, crossed the median and collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle about a kilometre south of Highway 2A.

The woman driving the SUV and the man driving the van were declared dead at the scene.

Traffic investigators are looking into the cause of the collision.

Drivers in the area may experience delays until the scene is cleared.
