Marcel Dionne praises Aly Raisman’s legs, creeps out NHL Awards (Video)

LAS VEGAS – The NHL Awards aren’t exactly known for their blinding star power when it comes to presenters. They find a few hockey-loving celebrities, and usually pair them with retired NHL players. The banter is strained and awkward.

But the banter between two presenters at Wednesday’s awards show in Las Vegas drove straight through Awkward-ville into Creepy Town.

Hockey Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne, 65, was paired with U.S. gold medal winning gymnast Aly Raisman, 23, who is a huge Boston Bruins fan. And really, what’s more cringe-worthy than grandpa commenting on Aly Raisman’s legs on stage at an awards show?

The answer: nothing. Take a look.

The banter:

ALY: I’m on stage with one of the old greats, Marcel Dionne.

MARCEL: Thank you, thank you. And I’m proud to be on stage with three-time Olympic gold medalist Look At Those Legs.

She has a name, sir!

Raisman giggled awkwardly as the crowd laughed, groaned and whistled at her, which is really unfortunate but completely expected, given the room.

This weird incident comes after Raisman recently made headlines when a TSA agent criticized her for not having enough arm muscles to be a gymnast. “I work very hard to be healthy & fit. The fact that a man thinks he judge my arms pisses me off I am so sick of this judgmental generation,” she wrote on Twitter.

Anyway, after the banter, Raisman and Dionne got back to the business at hand: Announcing the winner of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, which is given to the NHL player with the most “gentlemanly conduct” and no, none of this couldn’t possibly be more ironic.
