Margot Robbie has opened up about her full-frontal nude scene in 2013's The Wolf of Wall Street.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street saw Robbie star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, as they played husband and wife Jordan Belfort and Naomi Lapaglia.

Speaking to Turner Classic Movies' Ben Mankiewicz on the Talking Pictures podcast, Robbie reflected on the iconic role.

The film, which was Robbie's breakout role, saw the actor take on a full-frontal nude scene, which she has admitted she fought for after the director gave her another option.

After Scorsese suggested that Robbie could cover up during the scene, offering her the chance to wear a robe if she felt uncomfortable, Robbie said she felt it wasn't true to the character's nature.

"But that's not what she would do in that scene," Robbie said. "The whole point is that she's going to come out completely naked - that's the card she's playing right now."

Opening up further about the role, Robbie said she changed a scene during the audition process in which her character was meant to kiss DiCaprio after his character tells her to do so.

"I thought, 'I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now, and that would be awesome. I can’t wait to tell all of my friends this.' And then I thought 'nah' and just walloped him in the face," she said. "It was dead silent for what felt like an eternity but was probably three seconds."

Following the improvisation, Robbie said that DiCaprio and Scorsese found the change funny, saying: "They just burst out laughing. Leo and Marty were laughing so hard. They said, 'That was great.'"

Describing how she felt after opting to hit her co-star instead of kissing him, Robbie said that she had told herself: "You're going to get arrested, I'm pretty sure that's assault or battery. Not only will you never work again, actually you will go to jail for this, you idiot. And also why did you have to hit him so hard? You should have done it lighter."
