Margot Robbie’s Oscars Dress Should Be One of These 3 Iconic ‘80s Barbies (Yes, Peaches ‘N Cream Is in There)
Who needs a nomination? The actress is guaranteed a best dressed honor in these Academy Awards-worthy gowns
Margot Robbie may have been snubbed by the Academy for her performance in Barbie (Big mistake! Huge!) but there’s no doubt she’ll be one of the best dressed stars at the 2024 Oscars.
Since kicking off her Barbie promo tour on June 25 in a pink and white polka-dot Valentino mini dress with a crisscross neckline reminiscent of a Pink & Fabulous Barbie from 2015 (right down to the bright yellow bag), Robbie, 33, and and her stylist Andrew Mukamal have been committed to delivering a fresh Barbie look for every appearance.
At the 2024 Golden Globes, she delivered yet another iconic Barbie ensemble in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink sequined gown along with a pink tulle boa, which Barbie fans immediately recognized as a replica of the 1977 SuperStar Barbie doll’s 50th anniversary. She accessorized her look with $3 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry, including 30-ct. diamond studs and a 3-ct. D flawless old cut Golconda Diamond ring with natural vivid pink diamonds.

The Oscars is Robbie’s opportunity to put an extra-glittery exclamation point at the end of her Barbie style streak in something truly outrageous. So we went into the Barbie archives and came up with three dolls from the 1980s (when the doll was in her “Dynasty-meets-Miss America" era) and found three we’d love to see her bring to life for her Barbie fashion finale.
Peaches ‘N Cream (1984)
Any child of the eighties knows that Peaches ‘N Cream Barbie was That Girl. With her flowy chiffon gown featuring a white shimmery bodice and matching stole, she was, as described on the box, “pretty as a peach blossom.” Four decades after her debut, she’s still a fan favorite, with many Barbie enthusiasts hoping to see Peaches ‘N Cream Oscars moment.
Dream Glow (1985)
With its hot pink velvet bodice trimmed in white lace and pale pink starry tiered skirt, Dream Glow Barbie’s gown was an eighties dream. What’s more: the stars glowed in the dark which felt Jetsons-level futuristic at the time. If Robbie selects this look, we hope she’d go all-in and rock the blue eyeshadow.

Crystal Barbie (1983)
Hear that sound? It’s the distinct crinkle of Crystal Barbie’s iridescent white gown. This spaghetti-strap design had a tulle flare bottom with a coordinating boa and was accessorized with a hot pink belt and sparkly “diamond” necklace (not pictured here) which gives Robbie the perfect opportunity to hit up Lorraine Schwartz for some more mega-carat bling. And should the actress’ husband, Tom Ackerley, who produced the movie with her, want to match his wife, Crystal Ken exists.
The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
