All those Barbie press tour looks were smashing, but I’m way more invested in Margot Robbie’s recent postpartum fashion choices.
In the weeks since Robbie welcomed her first child with Tom Ackerly, Robbie has served multiple elevated, preppy takes on comfortable classics without skewing boring or expected—and this is coming from a childless 32-year-old that can’t stop shopping her looks.

Still afraid of barrel jeans? Margot Robbie’s latest look may convince you.
Most recently she strolled through Malibu looking like a 2000s-era romantic lead in an oversized pinstripe button-down, which she left open over basic black shorts and a crop top, giving the look a touch of edge with chunky black dad sandals, skinny sunglasses, and what appears to be a short burgundy manicure.

The second I saw Robbie, my mind immediately jumped to Natalie Portman in No Strings Attached (2011), Dakota Johnson in Fifty Shades Darker (2017), and Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), to name a few.
Apparently, all you need to make this look wearable in public is some low-key basics and accessories.
Of course, if you’re dealing with colder temps than Robbie, this would be another great way to style the cashmere loungewear celebs like Gigi Hadid and Camila Mendes have been wearing as everyday pants.
Not convinced it would have the same effect? Just a few days before Robbie’s latest Malibu outing, the star was photographed in another oversized button-down—this time a crisp white Oxford shirt—which she wore over another black crop top, loose-fitting black pants, and Adidas Gazelle sneakers, zhuzhing up the look with a simple gold necklace, earrings, and yet another pair of skinny shades.
Margot Robbie’s style may look effortless, and that’s because it can be…with the right pieces on hand.
