Mariah Carey to perform ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ at 2023 Billboard Music Awards
Mariah Carey will bring some holiday cheer to this year’s Billboard Awards.
Producers of the annual music event announced Wednesday that the chart-topping artist will take center stage at the awards show on Sunday, Nov. 19.
Carey, 54, will give a “festive Aspen-inspired” performance of her hit “All I Want for Christmas is You,” according to the announcement.
This year’s ceremony marks the first time the self-proclaimed “Queen of Christmas” has performed the modern holiday classic at an awards show.
Carey, who recently launched a viral Victoria’s Secret campaign, can also be considered the “Queen of Billboard.”
The music industry trade outlet noted Wednesday that she holds the record for the artist with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with 19 chart-toppers.
The five-time Grammy Award winner also stacked up the most weeks at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart (91 weeks), and is the female songwriter with the most Hot 100 No. 1 hits with 18 songs.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which was first released in 1994, became Carey’s 19th song to hit the top of the Hot 100 in 2019, extending her record for the most No. 1s of any solo artist.
The song, which remains a perennial favorite to the masses, is not the Long Island native’s favorite yuletide tune, though.
“My favorite all-time Christmas song is Nat King Cole’s version of [The] Christmas Song — that’s my favorite,” Carey revealed to Jennifer Hudson during an appearance on the EGOT winner’s daytime talk show this week.
