Mark Wahlberg Leads a Prayer in Super Bowl 2024 Commercial for Catholic App Hallow
The actor appears in the spot alongside Jonathan Roumie, known for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in "The Chosen" series
Mark Wahlberg is encouraging prayer this Super Bowl Sunday.
The actor and entrepreneur lent his talents to Hallow, a Catholic app for prayer, meditation, music and sleep, for a commercial airing during Super Bowl 2024. Wahlberg, 52, appears in the spot alongside actor Jonathan Roumie, known for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in TBN's The Chosen series.
"God, we take this moment," Wahlberg can be heard saying in a teaser for the spot. A message also flashes on the screen: "For the first time ever, join over 100 million people in prayer during the big game."
The full-length ad is scheduled to air during Super Bowl LVIII.

According to Hallow, the app offers prayer-on-the-go, and provides users with the opportunity to personalize their prayer experience with a custom daily prayer routine. Users can "connect with friends and family" and build "custom family groups" on Hallow.
Last lent in February 2023, Wahlberg discussed the balance of practicing Catholicism in the public eye while on Today. He was sporting an ashen cross across his forehead, which is tradition on Ash Wednesday.
"It's a balance. I don't want to jam it down anybody's throat, but I do not deny my faith. That's an even bigger sin," Wahlberg told Savannah Guthrie on Today.
"You know, it's not popular in my industry, but I cannot deny my faith. It's important for me to share that with people," he added. "But, I have friends from all walks of life and all different types of faiths and religions, so it's important to respect and honor them as well."
On Sunday, Wahlberg also starred in a pet adoption PSA alongside his Arthur the King canine sidekick.
Released in collaboration with Lionsgate, which is distributing the upcoming film, and the Best Friends Animal Society, the clip kicks off with Wahlberg sitting beside his furry friend, as he states, "There are dogs and cats in shelters all across the country hoping to find their very own people."
"Best Friends Animal Society is working to make sure that every dog and cat in America has a chance to find a loving home of their very own," adds Wahlberg. "When you adopt your next pet from a shelter, or a rescue group, you are helping to save the lives of pets like Arthur and so many others."
On Saturday, Wahlberg spoke to PEOPLE at the LIV Golf Las Vegas Big Game Party about his fitness routine and how he sometimes skips a workout after years of early morning workout sessions at 4 a.m. “I feel it more often than you think,” Wahlberg told PEOPLE when asked if ever feels like not exercising.

He said he usually begins his day sitting in a 35-degree tub of water and ice, known as a cold plunge, and that gets him in the mood to workout.
“I'm like, ‘Okay, I'm awake, I'm alive.’ We're a go right after that,” Wahlberg explained. “So I just go and I do the work.”
Wahlberg often posts videos of his workouts on social media — earlier this week the actor revealed his impressive abs in a video on Instagram that showed him lifting his t-shirt — but he acknowledges that rest and recovery are "equally important."
