Married 60 years? Come have lunch with the Lewises

Couples on P.E.I. who have been married 60 years are being invited to celebrate this summer with Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis and his wife, Dorothy.

The Lewises will be celebrating their own 60th anniversary on June 29.

"We are inviting all P.E.I. couples married in 1957 to contact my office to receive an invitation to a special anniversary luncheon with us at Government House this year," Lewis said in a news release.

Party for the Queen

In 2016, the Lewises celebrated Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday in part by hosting three luncheons for 99 Islanders who were born the same year as the Queen.

It was very well-received and provided inspiration for other similarly fashioned events, the release said.

"We are not sure how many other anniversary couples will call," Lewis said. "We will have as many lunches as needed to accommodate every interested couple."

How to get an invitation

Anniversary couples, or their families, are asked to contact Krista Rodd at Government House, P.O. Box 846, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 7L9, by telephone at (902) 368-5325 or by email to klrodd@gov.pe.ca to make arrangements for their invitation. A date or dates will be determined as requests are received.
