Married couple found dead inside their Wabasca home
CBC News has confirmed the identities of the two people found dead inside a home Friday afternoon in the northern Alberta community of Wabasca-Desmarais.
Multiple independent sources say Marjorie Auger and her husband Raymond Auger are deceased. Both are well known in the community.
Autopsies scheduled for Monday morning were delayed until Monday afternoon. The causes of death have not been released.
When asked if the RCMP are treating this case as a potential murder-suicide, a high ranking officer said, "We really can't disclose that."
The officer added RCMP are not looking for suspects at this time.
On Saturday, RCMP said officers from the local detachment, Edmonton major crimes and Peace River forensic identification unit were continuing to investigate the deaths.
The deaths have rattled the tiny community 330 kilometres north of Edmonton.
The couple is survived by two adult children. A relative told CBC News that as far as he knew, they were "happily married."
Marjorie Auger was the deputy chief administrative officer for the Municipal District of Opportunity. A spokesperson for the municipal district declined comment, pending an official release from the RCMP.
Raymond Auger went by the nickname 'Gonzo'.
Condolence messages have been appearing on Facebook.
"I had a hard time sleeping and woke up early, still in shock and hard to believe about the tragic events yesterday. My condolences to the children, grandchildren...RIP Marge and Gonzo," wrote one person on Saturday.
