Masked Singer's Katherine Jenkins changed up costume halfway through series
The Masked Singer UK finalist Katherine Jenkins has opened up about her stint on the show, admitting she had to make a big change to her costume halfway through the series.
The classical singer was unmasked as Octopus over a week ago, coming third behind Jason Manford's Hedgehog and eventual winner Nicola Roberts – aka Queen Bee.
Explaining why she decided to go on the "bonkers" show, Katherine revealed on today's (February 25) Lorraine that she wanted to create a character so that her daughter would understand her profession as a singer a bit better.
The star then explained the challenges of her Octopus costume, recalling: "It really was such a challenge, because it was the heaviest of the costumes, I think.
"All the weight was on my shoulders, so to jump around and make the character come to life was quite a lot of work.
"And then halfway through – because it started to really get to my back – they very kindly decided to put her on wheels, and it became a Dalek!"
Katherine wasn't the only contestant to struggle with their costume, Nicola recently revealing that she had to have her bee outfit modified after finding it difficult to breathe.
"The first dress rehearsal, the first time I sang the Sia song ('Alive') and I had the mask on, I'm not going to lie, I did have a wobbler," the Girls Aloud star recalled.
"I kind of got halfway through the song and... I couldn't breathe. I couldn't get the notes out. And it's a Sia song and her voice is massive.
"I just walked off, and I could hear them go, 'Queen Bee has left the stage! Queen Bee has left the stage!'. I said, 'Guys, this is impossible. I cannot actually get any air into singing'."
The Masked Singer UK is available on the ITV Hub.
