MasterChef is back for another (what feels like) 427 weeks of cooking, eliminations, and Gregg Wallace pulling faces, except something's a little bit different this time around.

While we're all used to the show airing at 8pm, the current series is airing on BBC One at 9pm.

However, judge John Torode isn't a fan of the new timeslot.

Appearing on today's (February 26) Good Morning Britain, he explained that he'd rather the show aired at 8pm because, in its current slot, children can't watch it as they're all tucked up in bed.

"For me, it's sad because the kids can't watch it. The kids have all gone to bed," he said.

Of course, there's always time to catch up though, as the show is available whenever you fancy on BBC iPlayer.

Torode also said that he and co-judge Gregg Wallace are pretty good about not getting food poisoning from trying the contestants' dishes.

How? Well he revealed that they keep a very close eye on how the contestants are cooking their food, and simply won't eat anything that looks raw.

The judge also shared that he usually puts on a stone in weight after filming on a series wraps up, because of all the creamy and rich foods he tries, and will do a lot of cycling in effort to drop the weight he's put on.

The current, 16th (!) series of MasterChef is currently airing Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights on BBC One, but next week it's on on Thursday instead of Wednesday.
