Matt Duchene singing to his son for the first time is simply adorable

Having yourself a bit of a rough day? Is life bringing you down? Need something to turn things around?

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Duchene singing a Grammy-award winning song to his young son — Beau — should do the trick.

It appears that helping his team sweep the President Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs has opened up a little bit of extra time for Mr. Duchene to pull out the guitar and sing ‘Shallow’ from the widely-popular film, A Star is Born.

Based on his adorable reaction to his father’s performance, Beau was liking what he was hearing. His sly smile at the end of the video that triggers Duchene’s laugh is incredible.

Born in January of this year, the youngster has both hockey and music in his blood.

After being traded to Columbus from the Ottawa Senators at the trade deadline in February, Duchene took a little bit of time to adjust to his new surroundings in Ohio. Following just four goals and 12 points in 23 games with the Blue Jackets to finish the regular season, he hit his stride in the playoffs.

The 28-year-old currently leads the team with three goals and seven points through four postseason contests and will look to continue his strong play against the winner of the Toronto Maple Leafs-Boston Bruins series.

And while hockey fans are more than aware of his ability on the ice, his musical talents aren’t news either.

While still with the Senators back in December he hit the stage at a bar inside the Canadian Tire Centre with James Barker Band to perform a cover of Morgan Wallen’s ‘Whiskey Glasses’ following a 4-3 overtime win over the Nashville Predators.

Trying to predict this NHL postseason has been next to impossible. However, having reviewed both of Duchene’s performances thoroughly, I can say with complete confidence that if an upcoming game involving the Blue Jackets was to be decided by a talent show, I like their chances.
