McDonald’s customers are deeply divided over a 'disgusting’ new menu item: ‘Not worth it’

The McDonald’s Chick ‘N’ Cheese burger has fast food fans in a total frenzy.

Available at the chain’s locations in Singapore, the hotly debated sandwich joins a long line of viral fast food items. In the past few months alone, social media has gone crazy over a “Christmas pizza from Pizza Hut U.K.,” a “meat wall” burger from Burger King Japan and an Oreo and spam burger from McDonald’s China.

This latest entry has been similarly controversial. The Chick ‘N’ Cheese burger, announced in late April, features crispy chicken, lettuce, sweet tomato chili jam and a patty made of fried mozzarella cheese. To add to the sheer cheesiness, McDonald’s Singapore slapped on a slice of cheese as well.

“Check out the cheeeese in our new Chick ‘N’ Cheese burger,” the chain wrote on Instagram. “It’s stacked with ingredients from bun to bun that’ll take your tastebuds to the next level!”

The new item also comes with the announcement of two accompanying sides: Pizza McShaker Fries and Ha! Chicken Drumlets.

McDonald’s lovers in Singapore rushed out to try the new items — and to share their experience online.

The results were, to say the least, pretty mixed. Some users seemed to strongly dislike the Chick ‘N’ Cheese burger, calling it “disgusting” or “very weird.”

“Just tried. Didn’t like the flavor combination. The Mozzarella Cheese Patty was the one that ruined the flavor for me, the jam was nice. Chicken is standard McChicken patty,” one Facebook user said of the burger.

“Not worth it,” an Instagram user wrote.

“Mcdonald’s chick n cheese burger was so bad. the cheese patty was mostly flour, marinara sauce tasted nothing like marinara sauce, the pizza fries tasted like pretz pizza stick seasoning,” another customer wrote on Twitter.

Others, meanwhile, openly praised the uber-cheesy burger.

“I’m sorry but this looks so good,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Can’t wait to try it,” another added.

Unfortunately, fast food fans in the U.S. may never know for sure whether the Chick ‘N’ Cheese burger is great or gross. In the meantime, we’ll all just have to stick to all the literal dozens of viral fast food items coming out at American chains.
