Jason McMillan returned home Sunday from Talladega Superspeedway and couldn’t believe all the commotion from his friends and family.
“It was just crazy,” McMillan told Yahoo Sports by phone. “I was at Talladega with my girlfriend watching the race and I’m coming home and everybody’s like: ‘You’re blowing up!’ ‘I’m like: ‘What’s going on?’
“They’re like: ‘Somebody took a picture of your back tattoo of Nick Saban.’ ”
Yes, McMillan is that guy. The 36-year-old Muscle Shoals, Ala., native went viral this week when a NASCAR fan sitting behind McMillan at the race took a picture of his back, which features a tattoo of an Alabama “A” logo, the years in which the Tide have won the national title and a portrait of Saban’s face.
The picture quickly made its way to the Twitter feed of FoxSports’ Clay Travis, and it spread from there.

The artist behind the ink is Byron Phillips, a high school friend of McMillan. McMillan said the entire project started with the “A” logo and title-winning years in 2012, followed by the Saban face about a year ago.
He said the Saban face took about five hours to complete.
McMillan is a lifelong Crimson Tide fan, saying that he was in the womb when his mother was in attendance at the 1982 Liberty Bowl, Bear Bryant’s last game as Alabama’s coach. He has heard plenty of reaction to his ink this week, with many commenters pointing out that he is missing the Tide’s last national title year, 2015. McMillan said the tattoo as a whole is a work-in-progress, and that he simply hasn’t had the time to add “2015” — or any of his other pending Bama-themed ideas — to his back just yet.
The funniest part of all of this, though, may be that his brother went rogue and became an Auburn fan.
“I guess Momma dropped him on his head or something,” McMillan joked. “I don’t know.”
