Just because they're the highest profile royals on the market at the moment doesn't seem to stop Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from doing things. After Meghan took a sneaky trip across the pond to Toronto in August, and Harry snuck off to Africa in June without any of us noticing, the pair were up to their old tricks again a couple of weekends back in September, taking a secret trip to Amsterdam.

And a fine trip it sounded - except for the rumoured awkward interaction with one of Harry's ex-girlfriends. Invited to the Dutch city to celebrate the opening of the new Amsterdam Soho House, the Evening Standard reports Harry and Meghan were joined by an interesting mix of high profile people. Other names on the guest list included the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Michael McIntyre, Tinie Tempah - and Jenna Coleman, who you might remember was rumoured to have been dating the prince back in 2015.

During the weekend away, guests were treated to a Saturday night feast at the member's club's Italian restaurant, Cecconi's, in aid of founder Nick Jones' 55th birthday. There, they reportedly ate lobster spaghetti and tiramisu, before enjoying treatments at the Cowshed spa and Sunday brunch the next morning. But according to an onlooker, it was at the brunch that Jenna and Harry crossed paths in what sounds like a pretty awkward moment.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the source said: "Harry had to walk straight past Jenna to get to his and Meghan’s table. It was pretty awkward and some of the other guests were commenting on it.

"Jenna looked down while Harry looked straight ahead, while Meghan didn’t seem to notice. She sat through breakfast with a smile on her face, but Harry looked a bit uncomfortable. He’d been super friendly saying hi to everyone, but he didn’t even acknowledge Jenna."

Harry and Jenna, who starred as the leading role in royal drama Victoria, were rumoured to have been dating a year before Harry met Meghan in the summer of 2016. Apparently, both Harry and Jenna's current boyfriend, fellow actor Tom Hughes, were competing for her affections simultaneously.

Thankfully, there didn't appear to be any further uncomfortable interaction between the pair for the rest of the weekend. In a bid to keep a low profile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly didn't take part in the group activities showing off the sights of the Dutch capital city. Events on the itinerary included a guided tour of Amsterdam’s red-light district on Friday night and a boat trip down the city’s canals.

The Soho House weekend in Amsterdam clashed with the wedding of Kate Middleton's best friend Sophie Carter to Robert Snuggs. While it's not known if Meghan and Harry would have been invited to the nuptials, considering just how close Sophie is to the Cambridges (she's also Princess Charlotte's godmother), it's likely that Harry, too (and now Meghan) is friendly with the recent bride.

But it's no surprise that even if they were invited to Sophie and Robert's wedding, Harry and Meghan would have chosen to go to Amsterdam. Meghan is famously close friends with Soho House director Markus Anderson, and it's reported that the Duke and Duchess had their first date at a restaurant inside London's Soho House back in 2016.

It's not known exactly how Meghan and Harry travelled to Amsterdam, but there's every chance they took a scheduled flight from London. Earlier this month, it was revealed that's exactly how the Duchess flew to Toronto for a stay at her best friend Jessica Mulroney's house in August, managing to go undetected by wearing an all black outfit along with a baseball cap. Sneaky.
