Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently reunited with their children, Archie, three, and Lilibet (Lili), one, in California, following their trip to the UK and the Queen's funeral.

The couple extended their overseas trip after Her Majesty died on September 8, and reportedly flew back to the US via London Heathrow on September 20.

Recently Markle, who together with Prince Harry is raising her kids in Montecito, shared a sweet update about her eldest.

As part of an interview with The Cut for The New York Times, the mum-of-two took journalist Allison P. Davis with her to collect Archie from school – and Davis later documented the heart-warming exchange in her article.

She wrote: 'If he [Archie] forgets to say please or thank you, Meghan reminds him of the manners that make the man.'

Davis added: 'At a stoplight, she [Meghan] reaches into the trunk and produces a brand-new black backpack and hands it to her security detail to give to an unhoused man on the corner.

They are teaching Archie that some people live in big houses, some in small, and that some are in between homes. They made kits to pass out with water and peanut-butter crackers and granola bars. "I ate one!" Archie contributes.'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were away from their children for a total of 17 days, having attended public engagements such as the WellChild Awards and the One Young World summit prior to the Queen's death.

During their UK trip, they met with many members of the royal family, including their in-laws, Prince William and Kate Middleton. The two couples surprised mourners at Windsor Castle on September 10 when they appeared together to view tributes left for the Queen.

While there was no official ruling stopping royal children from attending the Queen's funeral, Archie and Lilibet's absence was understood to be a decision made by their parents. Kate Middleton and Prince William also decided against bringing their youngest child, Prince Louis, four, to the funeral – though Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven, were both in attendance.
