Confused about what you’re supposed to call Meghan Markle and Prince Harry now that they have stepped away from royal duties and are no longer using their HRH titles? Yeah, so is the palace.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on this whole title thing following the Sandringham Summit on Meghan and Harry’s new role in the royal fam, saying, “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles, as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”

According to People, the understanding is that while the couple will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (and Harry remains a prince), sources initially claimed they’d go by Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex versus “Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Cool, got it!

But, uh, now (amid concern that this particular styling is used for divorced royals like Sarah, Duchess of York), sources say the titles are being reviewed. Apparently, aides who originally claimed the couple would be known as Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex “were wrong,” and per People, “They are now reviewing with experts at the palace about the correct use going forward.”

In other words, stay tuned.
