What do you get someone who has everything? If that someone is a member of the House of Windsor, the key is to not take it so seriously.

The royal family is famous for exchanging gag and novelty gifts at Christmas, rather than swapping indulgent, high-end goods—think a shower cap that reads "Ain't Life a Bitch" (from Harry, to the Queen), or a "Grow Your Own Girlfriend" kit (from Kate, to Harry in his pre-Meghan Markle days). This tradition apparently posed a particularly tricky hurdle for Meghan in 2017, when it came time for her first-ever holidays with the royals at Sandringham.

Finding Freedom, the new biography of Prince Harry and Meghan from royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, has it that the Duchess of Sussex had at least one winner of a Christmas present, which Prince William was lucky enough to receive.

Scobie and Durand write that holidays with the Windsors was "an audition like no other, and [Meghan] wanted to impress her future royal relatives. To that end, Meghan's biggest challenge was finding the perfect novelty gifts to amuse her new extended family. At least one of her gifts was a huge hit—a spoon for William that had 'cereal killer' embossed on the shallow bowl end of the utensil."

Thus far, Meghan has spent just one more Christmas at Sandringham, in 2018. The following year, she and Prince Harry chose to celebrate the holidays in Canada, as a part of their several-week-long stay on Victoria Island.
