Meghan Trainor's Father Was Hospitalized After Being Hit By a Car

Gary Trainor is fortunately in stable condition.

“Get well soon” wishes are highly needed for Meghan Trainor’s dad.

E! News reports that Gary Trainor was hit by a car on Friday, February 21. He was hospitalized following the incident; according to Meghan’s rep, her father is fortunately in stable condition and expected to be OK.

According to TMZ, who initially reported the accident on Friday, Gary was crossing the street near San Fernando Valley when he was struck by a vehicle. The outlet adds that the driver reportedly told police officials that she couldn’t see Gary due to his alleged dark clothing at the time.

Entertainment Tonight adds that the LAPD confirmed that no crime was reported; previous reports described the incident as a hit-and-run accident, but the vehicle and driver reportedly remained at the scene in order to speak with police officials.

As noted by ET, Meghan and her father are incredibly close, and Gary was present when she won Best New Artist at the 2016 Grammy Awards. “This is me forever..bawling my eyes out,” Meghan wrote on Instagram at the time. “Can't believe what happened. My dad whispered "you made it" before I walked up and I lost it. I love my family so much. Without them I wouldn't be here today.”

In 2018, Meghan opened up to Today's Hoda Kotb about the impact her father has had on her life. "I look up to him all the time," she said at the time, noting that her dad's wisdom and encouragement have helped her feel "grounded" despite the rollercoaster of fame. "Everything I do, I'm inspired by him."

Our thoughts are with Meghan and her family, and we wish her father a speedy recovery.
