Incoming First Lady Melania Trump seemingly opted not to greet outgoing Jill Biden with a parting gift on Inauguration Day.

The Biden’s greeted incoming president Donald Trump and Melania on the staircase at the White House front door on Monday morning, just hours before Trump was to be sworn in.

“Welcome home,” said the outgoing president, with Melania holding no gift as she did in 2017 when she gave Michelle Obama a blue Tiffany & Co box. It is unclear if Melania gave a gift to Jill in private.

When Trump took office the first time around, Melania brought the outgoing first lady a present, Michelle later revealing the gift on the Ellen Degeneres show in 2018.

“It was a lovely frame,” the former first lady said at the time, according to People.

Many described the interaction as ‘awkward,’ Michelle scrambling to find a place to put the gift.

“This is like a state visit, so they tell you that you’re going to do this, they’re going to stand here,” she continued. “What am I supposed to do with this gift? And everyone cleared out and no one would come and take the box. And I’m thinking do we take the picture with?”
