Met Police officer dismissed after 'liking’ Facebook group linked to far-right organisation Britain First
A Met Police officer has been dismissed after “liking” a Facebook group linked to far-right organisation Britain First.
PC Gus Mirams was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing.
A panel was told PC Mirams, who was based at Central West Command Unit (AW), “liked” and made comments on a Facebook group linked to the far-right extremist group while off duty in July 2018.
He also made offensive comments online, in response to photographs and videos including news stories about police officers taking part in Pride events, the hearing was told.

While on restricted duties in July last year, he also attended the public gallery to observe an unrelated misconduct hearing.
PC Mirams made "homophobic" and "racially offensive" comments in the presence of two members of the public and a security officer, the hearing was told.
His comments used language and expressed views that could reasonably be perceived to be abusive, oppressive, victimising or offensive and did not treat certain communities with fairness, respect and impartiality, the panel concluded.

The panel ruled he breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of ‘authority, respect and courtesy’, ‘equality and diversity’, ‘orders and instructions’ and ‘discreditable conduct’.
All the allegations were found proven as gross misconduct.
A Met Police spokesman said: "The decision by the Panel was that PC Mirams is to be dismissed without notice."
