THREE RIVERS, Calif. (AP) — In the wake of California wildfires, upwards of 10,000 trees weakened by fires, drought, disease or age must be removed, work that will keep a nearby highway closed to visitors who seek the world’s two largest sequoia trees. The hazard trees could potentially fall onto people and cars on the section of State Route 180 known as Generals Highway, or they could create barriers for emergency and fire response, the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks said Friday. Israel's deputy foreign minister said on Sunday that the Biden administration may shelve its plan to reopen a U.S diplomatic mission for Palestinians in Jerusalem after Israel voiced opposition to such a move. Hockey superstar Mark Messier's new book, No One Wins Alone, blends the Hockey Hall of Famer's insights into achieving success as a player and a leader with his descriptions of a long NHL career that began when he was just 18 years old. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — There was a pick of moments that confirmed Manchester United’s humiliation against Liverpool. Maybe it came with Mohamed Salah completing his hat trick by the 50th minute. Or in the celebrations as Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was heard repeatedly shouting “Keep going” at his teammates when they were already 5-0 up showing no mercy. Or there was the sight of Alex Ferguson shaking his head, sighing in the Old Trafford directors’ box at seeing the shambles unfolding

The impact of a Covid lockdown has already been dramatic for a destination that relies on tourism for 90% of its income. In Santorini's case, the lockdown came as a double blow as the island had recently begun to open its hotels and restaurants all year round. During this enforced isolation only Santorini residents were allowed on the island. Guests from the mainland had to return home and no new tourists were allowed in. The drastic shutdown worked, however. Not one case of the potentially deadly disease was diagnosed on Santorini.
