Jackson High football coach caught watching porn in class no longer at school, district says

Miami Jackson Senior High School head football coach Max Edwards has been removed from the school, district officials said Wednesday morning, after a video obtained by the Miami Herald caught him watching pornography in the classroom.

The video, which was given to the Herald late Tuesday, shows Edwards behind a teacher’s desk in a classroom watching porn on a computer for over 30 seconds, it’s unclear how long he was watching the inappropriate content. At least one student was in the class.

After not responding Tuesday night, the school district said Wednesday morning Edwards is no longer at the school.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is disturbed by the allegations made regarding concerning behavior involving an employee at Miami Jackson Senior High School,” the district said in a statement to the Herald. “The individual has been removed from the school site pending the outcome of an investigation. At this time, we cannot provide any further comment.”

It is unclear if police have opened an investigation or if charges are pending. Miami-Dade Police Department did not immediately respond for comment.

On the football field, Edwards has been one of the most successful coaches in South Florida in recent years.

Before his stint at Jackson, which began this season, Edwards guided Miami Northwestern to three consecutive state championships from 2017-2019. He has also been part of multiple state championship teams as an assistant coach at Miami Booker T. Washington.

Edwards did not immediately return phone calls from the Miami Herald.
