Michael Kors Just Sold the West Village Condo He Bought from Jon Stewart

The fashion designer bought the stylish property, complete with a 1,500-square-foot landscaped terrace, in 2005 for $4 million

Michael Kors recently sold one of his two West Village apartments for $7.62 million, according to city property records. The fashion designer purchased the two-bedroom condo from The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart back in 2005 for close to $4 million. It’s unknown who picked up Kors’s home, given that the mystery buyer purchased the condo through an LLC in an off-market deal. The unit, which is housed in a former department store, spans 2,224 square feet of indoor living space and has a spacious 1,500-square-foot landscaped terrace with impressive city views. The 67-unit building has a number of enviable amenities, including a doorman, a roof deck with 360-degree panoramic views of the city, a gym, and a children’s playroom, among other features.

In September 2015, Kors hinted at his home aesthetic when he told Architectural Digest about his favorite furniture designer, George Nakashima. “My husband, Lance LePere, and I are nuts about George Nakashima furniture and own quite a few originals, including the iconic chaise lounge,” he said. “The blend of sophistication and rusticity is genius.”

Kors and LePere purchased a penthouse in early 2015, also located in Greenwich Village, for somewhere in the “$17 million to $21 million range,” a source told the New York Post. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom condo includes a private rooftop terrace and an eat-in chef’s kitchen.
