Microsoft Planning ‘Xbox One Mini’, Say Rumours

Microsoft is set to unveil a slimmed down ‘Xbox One Mini’ in October, according to online rumours.

Details are sketchy, but the pared down version of Microsoft’s games console is expected to be a third of the size and will drop Blu-ray support.

The rumours started from Chinese site WPDang, but have not yet been corroborated by any other sources, leading to suspicion within the gaming community.

Microsoft is already rumoured to be launching a range of new products at a large event scheduled for October. including a second fitness band and new versions its Lumia smartphones and Surface tablets.

Smaller versions of the key console makers’ flagship hardware are not unusual, but they tend to come a little later on in the product’s lifetime. The Xbox One was released less than two years go.

Sales for the Sony PS4 are roughly double that of the rival Xbox One, so it’s not entirely unbelievable that Microsoft might want to introduce a slimmed down version of its console before Christmas in order to boost sales.

However, the gaming world is taking the latest rumours with a massive pinch of salt.
