Miley Cyrus Confirms She and Cody Simpson Broke Up
Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson's big romance didn't quite make it a year. TMZ reports the two have called it quits. According to TMZ’s multiple sources, they split quietly within the last few weeks. The reason for their split isn’t clear at this point.
Cyrus addressed the reports on her Instagram Live last night, saying, "It came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up. It was confirmed by a 'reliable source' even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it. But right now, two halves can't make a whole, and we're individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age."
Cyrus and Simpson were first seen kissing in Los Angeles grocery store and açaí bowl eatery at the beginning of October 2019. In their time together, Simpson appeared to move into Cyrus' house. He released a song about her and serenaded her when she was in the hospital with tonsillitis.
He gave an interview about how he was more romantic than all her other partners. "I’m very, very, very romantic," Simpson told the hosts on the Kyle & Jackie O Show last year. "I don’t think she...she’d talked about how she hadn’t had that kind of an experience in a relationship before." He also noted there was always attraction between them, even when they were just friends for years before they started dating. "I think we were interested in each other ever since we first met, even when I was like, 18, and it was just not the right time," Simpson said in the same interview.
Simpson and Cyrus did a couple's costume for Halloween, and Simpson visited Cyrus' Nashville home. He was her wedding date to her brother's wedding in Tennessee, so he spent time with her family too. The two spent a lot of time together at the start of quarantine, and Simpson appeared on Cyrus’s Instagram Live show, Bright Minded.
