Minsk Residents Flash Lights During Night of Unrest

Apartment residents in Minsk, Belarus, flashed their lights on August 11, as anti-government protests ignited by the reelection of President Alexander Lukashenko continued.

Protesters in cities across Belarus have clashed with police for several nights following Lukashenko’s election for a sixth term.

The main opposition candidate, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, claimed the vote was rigged.

News reports said residents of Belarus experienced widespread internet outages, which limited access to social media and news coverage. Protesters accused the government of shutting down internet access, which authorities have denied. Credit: @volhaho via Storyful
