A baby who survived a brutal stabbing before being buried alive is set to be adopted by a loving new family.

Seven-month-old Aidin was dumped face-down in a 20cm shallow grave in Khon Kaen province, Thailand, in February - just a few days after he was born.

Luckily, passing cattle herder Kachit Krongyut, 53, saw a tiny foot sticking out of the ground under a eucalyptus tree and heard crying - and desperately began digging up the smile with her hands.

And her quick actions saved the newborn’s life, before he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Unbelievably, doctors believe the pressure from the soil actually prevented the youngster from bleeding to death.

After his traumatic start to life, Aidin is set to be given a loving new home after a Swedish couple decided to adopt him.

Supachai Pathimchart from the Kaen Thong Orphanage where Aidin was cared for said they were “very happy” for him.

He said: “All of the safety checks have been carried out to make sure Aidin goes to a good home.

’‘We’re very happy that he will be going to a good home and have a comfortable life.

’'He survived a very bad experience but he has a lot of character and he’s happy with life.”

Kachit and husband Pornchai, who rescued the tot, said they were delighted that Aidin is going to a good home.

Pornchai added: “He is very lucky. A few hours later and he might not have survived.

’'We’re very happy that he has found a loving home to go to. He will do well in life we’re sure.”

Doctors believe that Aidin may have been abused by the mother, a 42-year-old local, after bruises were found on the tot’s chest.

She was tracked down by footprints and motorbike tracks at the scene and has now been charged with attempted murder and abandoning her own child.
