Miramar cop fired after his arrest for coercing minor to perform sexual acts: warrant

Miramar officer George Richardson was fired after he was arrested on charges related to coercing a child to perform sex acts, records show.

A Miramar officer was terminated Wednesday after he was put in handcuffs on child sex charges, his arrest warrant reveals.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrested George Richardson after an investigation revealed he coerced a child to do sexual actions for him.

He faces charges of use of a child in a sexual performance, lewd or lascivious written solicitation of certain minors and harmful communication to a minor.

It’s unclear precisely what illegal actions Richardson allegedly committed, but an arrest warrant states that he induced a child to masturbate for him on Facetime video.

Richardson was an officer for the Miramar Police Department for three years. Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss released a statement condemning Richardson’s actions.

“I am profoundly disappointed to announce the arrest of George Richardson...,” he said. “When an individual sworn to uphold the law finds himself accused of violating that sacred oath, it not only undermines their personal integrity but also casts a shadow over the entire profession. The trust bestowed upon law enforcement officers is paramount, and any breach of that trust is unacceptable.”

The department said it is cooperating with the sheriff’s office to ensure a thorough investigation. It’s unclear if Richardson has paid a proposed $25,000 bond or remains in jail.

“At the same time, it is crucial that we extend our compassion and support to the alleged victim,” Moss said. “We are committed to ensuring that they receive all necessary assistance during this incredibly difficult time. The Miramar Police Department will remain steadfast in our mission to serve our community with integrity.”
