Miramichi Hospital asks visitors with flu to not visit patients

The Miramichi Regional Hospital is asking anyone with flu-like symptoms not to visit patients.

The hospital is experiencing an increase in the number of flu cases.

"For your protection and the protection of in-patients at the hospital, Horizon Health Network advises anyone with flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, chills, body aches or nausea to refrain from visiting patients," the statement said.

The health network said if a person needs to come to the hospital and is experiencing any of those symptoms, they should clean their hands with alcohol-based hand rinse and wear a mask to prevent further spreading the flu.

Hand rinse and face masks are available at the hospital entrances.
