Miscouche students create own newscast

Some students at Miscouche Consolidated School have started their own TV newscast called Mustang News.

Throughout the week, five Grade 8 and 9 students do interviews, shoot video, forecast the weather and host a show out of one of the school's resource rooms.

At the end of every second week, they show their 10-minute newscast to all of their fellow students.

Haley Brenna, a reporter for Mustang News, says she wanted to be part of the show.

"Different experience and to help out with the school, get involved and let the students know what's going on around in their school," said Brenna.

"It's really fun to know that they're going to be watching and hopefully enjoying the thing that we put a lot of effort into at the end of the week."

The students put the show together with the help of their teacher Nicole Martin.

Martin says doing the newscast is helping the students gain interview skills, improve their time management and boost their confidence.
