A car belonging to a Conception Bay South woman has been found, by a talc mine in the town on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula.

Anna Gaulton, 79, and her small beige Havanese dog, named Cuddles, have been missing since early August.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Const. James Cadigan confirmed to CBC News on Thursday that Gaulton's red 2013 Chevrolet Cruz, which she was last seen driving in Kelligrews on August 8, has been found near C.B.S.'s talc mine.

On Monday, Cadigan said, someone reported seeing a red car near the mine. Officers followed up and confirmed it was Gaulton's vehicle.

Cadigan said Rovers Search and Rescue, a volunteer organization, has been brought in to help conduct a search of the mine, and water in some areas of the mine has been drained to aid the search.

Gaulton is around five-foot-four, 130 pounds, with brown eyes and grey hair. She was last seen wearing red pyjama pants and a red shirt.
