Missing Mazda could lead to lawsuit against Northern Properties

Yellowknife's Danny Mutua is still looking for his 1992 Mazda LX after his landlord had it towed from his assigned parking space at Shaganappi Apartments while he was on vacation.

"When I came from Alaska I found that the car was missing from its assigned stall."

In emails between Mutua and Northern Properties, the company said the car was towed because it was "abandoned and unregistered," Mutua said. "Which was not true."

The company said they gave him numerous warnings to remove his car.

But Mutua said he was on vacation when the warnings were issued.

He also showed the CBC proof his car's registration is up to date.

Now Mutua just wants to know where the car is, but that's another challenge.

The towing company told him his car may have been scrapped.

"They said it's in the pile. I asked him, 'What do you mean it's in the pile?'"

Northern Properties didn't return CBC's calls for comment.

Mutua's frustration is reaching a fever pitch.

"They are kicking me back and forth like a soccer ball and I am quite frustrated."

He says he's going to file court documents this week.
