Ariel Epstein breaks down her top plays for the MLB DFS slate on Friday, April 22nd.
ARIEL EPSTEIN: What's up, Yahoo Fantasy? I'm the Prop Queen, Ariel Epstein. I've got three different players to put in your Major League Baseball lineups in DFS tonight. Let's start with a $20 play. I'm going with the Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Nick Castellanos. He's got the Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta. In his career, Castellanos is 7 of 13 with four doubles, one home run, driving in 5 RBIs. I like the fact that he's hitting over .500 against Peralta in over 10 at-bats. Give me Castellanos for $20.
For $13, I'm going with the Chicago White Sox first baseman José Abreu. The Minnesota Twins are throwing their right-hander Bailey Ober out. Now in the career of José Abreu, he's only faced Ober 10 times, yet he's hitting .400. Not only is this just a base hit that he's had. I mean, he's had four hits, double, triple, home run, drove in two RBIs. I like that he's hitting .400. Give me the power slugger José Abreu for $13 tonight.
For a pitcher, I'm looking to the Atlanta Braves starter Kyle Wright. He's $32, and he's up against the Miami Marlins. First off, the Marlins rank 24th in batting average and RBIs with runners in scoring position. That's very bad. The Marlins have left about 16 base runners on base prior to yesterday's game in the last series. Now they're going to go face Kyle Wright, who's been so good at home. In his first start of the year, he went up against Cincinnati and threw six shutout innings.
He just gave up 2 runs to San Diego in his last start. However, that was on the road. Wright pitches better at home, and the Marlins strike out a lot. Wright's put up six and nine strikeouts in his first two outings. Now getting the Marlins, who are averaging just under five strikeouts per start for each starter they've faced. I know that doesn't sound high. However, when you have a strikeout pitcher on the mound against Miami, never doubt the ability to throw some K's. Give me Kyle Wright for $32.
Here's your MLB DFS recap. For $20, I'm playing the Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Nick Castellanos. For $13, Chicago White Sox first baseman José Abreu. For my starting pitcher, I've got the right-hander from Atlanta, Kyle Wright.
