MLB Network broadcaster Jim Kaat apologized Friday after making a "sensitive, hurtful remark" about Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoán Moncada.
The comment occurred in the first inning of the contest. With Moncada at the plate, Kaat and booth mate Buck Showalter discussed Moncada's ability. Showalter jokingly said he asked, "Can we have one of those" the first time he saw Moncada. Kaat responded by saying, "Get a 40-acre field full of them."

Kaat addressed that comment in the fifth inning of the game. During a meeting on the mound, Kaat apologized for his "sensitive, hurtful" comment.
"I want to add a little break here. In fact, I need to read this right now, because earlier in the game when Yoan Moncada was at the plate in an attempt to compliment the great player, I used a poor choice of words that resulted in a sensitive, hurtful remark. And I'm sorry."
Bob Costas and Showalter went silent for a few seconds before an ad for Evan Williams bourbon played on the screen. When the ad ended, Kaat resumed analyzing the game.
