MoDOT worker dies after being hit by semi-truck on Highway O near Sedalia
A Missouri Department of Transportation employee was killed in a crash with a semi-truck Tuesday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
An 18-year-old man from Hughesville, Missouri, was driving north on Missouri Highway O near Sedalia in a 2005 Peterbilt 379 when the semi-truck hit a pedestrian, 60-year-old Jay L. Bone, according to the crash report. Paramedics pronounced Bone dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the MSHP. No other information about the crash was immediately available Wednesday.
MoDOT announced on its X account Wednesday that Bone was a senior maintenance worker who had been with the department since 2015.
“Please keep the Bone family, friends and coworkers in your thoughts.,” MoDOT said in the post.
Troop A of the MSHP shared MoDOT’s post Wednesday.
“Our hearts break for the family of Mr. Bone and the (MoDOT) family,” MSHP said on X.
