Molly-Mae Hague says her many achievements since leaving the Love Island villa "aren't really down to the show".

The 22-year-old influencer, who finished as runner-up of the 2019 series with boyfriend Tommy Fury, was announced this week as the new creative director of online fashion brand PrettyLittleThing.

Hague recently stated she has tried to distance herself from the Love Island landscape and has now told Mail Online she doesn't connect her success with appearing on reality TV.

She said: "The things that I've achieved since coming out of that show aren't really down to the show. They're more down to my drive and ambition to do big things."

Hague, whose social media following was already considerable before Love Island, said she was actually advised against going on the show, but saw it as a "fun opportunity" to potentially find a partner.

The star said the show "pushed me in the right direction", but she feels she would have ultimately achieved her goals without it.

She added: "Everybody when they come out of that show is given the same opportunities — we all have the same 24 hours in the day — and where you take your life when you come out of a show like that is totally dependent on who you are as a person."

Hague is ranked among the most successful Love Island alumni, with numerous reports suggesting she can earn more than £10,000 for a single sponsored Instagram post directed at her six million followers.

She added: "I love my life now. There’s not one thing I’d change. I’m so blessed."
