Mom, son OK after Burin Peninsula fire

A mother and her young son escaping unscathed from a fire in the home they were renting in a community on Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula.

The fire broke out Sunday afternoon around 1 p.m. in the home in Lewin's Cove, just south of Marystown.

The woman and her three-year-old are staying with relatives for now.

The family is also getting a hand from the Canadian Red Cross, which is providing extra clothes, food and toiletries, as well as a new teddy bear for the little boy.
