Moncton woman who died on dinghy identified

RCMP have named the woman found dead in a dinghy in waters off Marshville in Pictou Country, N.S., last week.

Jeanne Francis Lipton of Moncton, N.B., was in a one-person inflatable dinghy when it got caught in the current of the changing tide.

Lipton, 66, was being carried into the Northumberland Strait by the vessel on May 16.The Canadian Coast Guard and firefighters from the River John Volunteer Fire Department went to search for the woman around 8 p.m.

She was found with no vital signs.

RCMP Sgt. Al LeBlanc says the woman did not have a paddle and it does not appear she fell in the water. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiners' Service ruled out foul play in her death.
