Montague Boys and Girls Club to open Sept. 8 in interim space

Montague Boys and Girls Club welcomes kids to new house

The new Montague Boys and Girls Club will open on the first day of school, Sept. 8.

The group says on its Facebook page that the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre will host them for the first few weeks.

Montague council gave the go-ahead Monday for the organization to use the house they purchased on Wood Islands Road.

Council had initially denied the request a few weeks ago, responding to neighbours' concerns about extra noise and traffic.

The house still has to go through several inspections but the club hopes to be operating there by Oct. 5.

The club has been approved for 28 children per day for the after-school program that will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

They plan to open 25 full-time slots and three part-time.

Registration is open now but the club says it's filling up fast.
