Montague RCMP arrest 2 men for impaired operation of boat and ATV
RCMP in Montague had a busy Saturday night as they dealt with two unusual cases of impaired operation.
At around 9 p.m., RCMP received a call that a boat with five people in it was trying to dock at the Montague wharf, and had struck another boat and the dock itself.
Police arrested the operator of the boat and gave him a breathalyzer at the police station. He was then charged with impaired operation.
The boat that was struck was not damaged.
Shortly after 11 p.m., RCMP received a call about an ATV that had rolled over by the Subway on Main Street.
The driver was uninjured, but was arrested and charged for impaired operation and refusing a breathalyzer.
"Impaired operation unfortunately is not a unique circumstance, but two incidents ... so closely timed together within the Town of Montague is somewhat unique," said Cpl. Alexis Triantafillou.
He added that operating any motorized vehicle can result in impaired driving charges.
"It's not exclusive to cars and trucks," he said.
Triantafillou said the two men are from Kings County.
