Montreal teenager dead after shooting at house party

MONTREAL — An 18-year-old man died Friday after he was shot at a house party in the Montreal suburb of Town of Mount Royal.

Montreal police said they received a call around 1:45 a.m. about someone injured by gunfire inside a private residence.

They said the man was hit by more than one bullet in the upper body and was unconscious when he was transported to hospital.

The teenager's death is the 36th homicide recorded in Montreal in 2021.

Const. Caroline Chèvrefils said the suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

Investigators and crime scene technicians were dispatched to the residence, and police said many witnesses will be interviewed.
