Montreal police investigating 19th homicide of the year after body found in Lachine

Montreal police major crimes unit is investigating after a body was discovered in a garage of a private residence in Lachine Friday evening.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were called to J. T. Rathwell Street, near 30th Avenue, around 7 p.m. where they found the body of a 27-year-old man.

According to an SPVM spokesperson, "traces of violence were found on the body." Police say it is the city's 19th homicide of the year.

The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

No arrests have been made in connection to the murder and police have not released further details about the investigation.
