Montreal police investigating fatal shooting of 63-year-old man in garage of residential building

Montreal police are investigating after a 63-year-old man was fatally shot in the garage of a residential building in the borough of Saint-Leonard. The death marks this year's 18th homicide in Montreal.

The Montreal police service (SPVM) say it received calls about shots being fired near the corner of Jean-Talon and Michelet Streets at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

The victim was found in the garage of the residential building, and his death was confirmed at the scene.

Police also say the victim was known to them had ties to the drug trade.

The SPVM's major crimes unit has set up a command post.
