MONTREAL — A Universite de Montreal education professor has been charged with a sexual offence involving an 11-year-old child.

Police in Longueuil, Que., south of Montreal, say Thierry Karsenti, 52, was arrested Feb. 23.

They say Karsenti, who is also the Canada Research Chair on information and communication technologies in education, allegedly committed the offence in 2015.

Police say they believe Karsenti, who also goes by the name "Thomas," may have had other victims and are asking people who may have information to come forward.

They say they suspect he allegedly committed other sex-related offences between 2015 and 2017.

Karsenti faces a single charge of sexual interference and is due in court on Friday.
