More women interested in barbering, says hairstyling professor

More women want to specialize in men's hair techniques and barbering, says a hair styling professor.

"I think with the barbering, it's in the forefront right now. It's a trend that's come up and men are taking more care of their beards and so forth," Marcy McIntosh, a hairstyling program coordinating at St. Clair College.

McIntosh has been with the program for 18 years and said men are more interested in getting groomed. The long list includes fine tuning, hair tattooing and even design work on beards. And that's getting the attention of female hairstylists.

"It used to be women when that came into the business they were strictly going to do women's hair a lot of our students are wanting not to go into all men's cutting," McIntosh said. "Which is awesome."
