‘The Morning Show’s’ Charlotte Stoudt to Receive Variety’s Showrunner Award at SCAD TVfest
Charlotte Stoudt, showrunner of Apple TV+’s hit “The Morning Show,” will receive the Variety Showrunner Award at the 12th annual SCAD TVfest. The festival returns this year in Atlanta from Feb. 7 to Feb. 10 to the new, state-of-the art SCADshow theater.
This year, the show received a 2024 Golden Globe nomination for “Best Television Series – Drama” and a 2024 Critics Choice Award nomination for “Best Drama Series.” It was also recognized by the AFI Awards as one of the “Top 10 Television Programs of the Year” in 2023. Stoudt’s previous television work includes the Netflix limited series “Pieces of Her“ with Toni Collette, six seasons of “Homeland,” “House of Cards” and “Fosse/Verdon.”
More from Variety
“We couldn’t stop talking about ‘The Morning Show’ in our office this year, and for good reason: The show continues to be a wild ride, with all sorts of delicious twists, turns and intrigue along the way,” said Variety TV editor Michael Schneider. “Charlotte Stoudt took over as showrunner this season and upped the ante with new stars like Jon Hamm, while further exploring the state of journalism, our nation and our society — and how that all shapes our tricky interpersonal dynamics. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Season 4.”
“SCAD TVfest is excited to continue our partnership with Variety to present the Showrunner Award to Charlotte Stoudt for her exceptional contributions to one of my favorite programs, ‘The Morning Show,’” said Christina Routhier, executive director of SCAD TVfest. “We partnered with Variety to celebrate trailblazing showrunners who are redefining the landscape of television and share their voice with our SCAD students and audiences. Charlotte’s creative vision for Season 4 of ‘The Morning Show’ is well deserving of recognition.”
Stoudt will accept the award at a special ceremony on Feb. 9, where the festival will screen an episode of “The Morning Show” followed by a discussion moderated by Variety’s Michael Schneider.
Passes are on sale Jan. 25 at scadtvfest.com. Individual ticket sales will begin Wednesday, Jan. 31.
