Mother and daughter dead after Quebec collision

Slippery road conditions could have been a factor in a tragic accident in Quebec's Montérégie region.

A four-year-old girl and her mother are dead following an accident on Montreal's South Shore.

The collision occurred yesterday at about 7 a.m. on Highway 137 in Ste-Cécile-de-Milton, in Quebec's Montérégie region.

The roads were slippery and the driver, a 32-year-old woman, lost control of her car. Her vehicle left its lane and collided with an oncoming van.

The girl, who was seriously injured, died last night around 8 p.m. at Montreal's Sainte-Justine hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured, but not critically.

The Sûreté du Québec is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
