Mother Stole Baboon From Zoo To ‘Please Deaf and Mute Baby’
A mother who stole a baboon from a zoo has claimed that she did it to please her deaf and mute baby.
The unnamed 26-year-old broke into Luka the baboon’s cage in Skopje, Macedonia before stealing him as a birthday present – despite her son’s birthday being four months ago.
She was aided in the theft by her 31-year-old fiancée, who claims that they committed the crime as it was the only thing that keeps their child happy.
They stole the 18-month-old ginger haired baboon after coaxing it with a banana, before fleeing in a taxi.
‘My fiancée took off his shirt and wrapped the animal in it, and I carried the animal with me. We jumped over the back gate, went past the dumpsters and climbed into a cab’, the mother recalled.
But police were quickly alerted to the crime and the mother is now expected to be charged with theft.
‘My little son couldn’t hear the monkey shriek well, nor could he talk to say how happy he was, but his smile said everything’, she added.
‘Then the police came and so our adventure ended.’
Fortunately, the baboon has since been returned to the zoo in good health.
